€2.5 billion available for transport projects across the EU

€2.5 billion available for transport projects across the EU
01 October 2024

The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) has announced the 2024 calls for proposals under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for Transport, providing 2.5 billion euros for the building and modernization of transport infrastructure across EU Member States, Ukraine and Moldova.

The CEF Transport programme is a key EU funding instrument that has supported over 1500 projects since 2014, aimed at strengthening the interconnected Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). Future projects to be funded are aimed at promoting more sustainable, smart, interoperable and resilient mobility across the network, in line with the objectives under the EU Green Deal as well as the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy to become climate neutral by 2050. The 2024 CEF Transport calls cover the TEN-T network in areas including railways, inland waterways, maritime and inland ports, road safety and infrastructure resilience.

Applications are welcome from EU Member States, Ukraine, Moldova, along with international organizations and public and private entities established within these states. Proposals are to be evaluated by independent external experts, the European Commission and CINEA.
