Michelle Makaroff to join as Senior International Development Advisor

We are very happy and honored to announce that Michelle Makaroff has joined B2EU Consulting team as Senior International Development Advisor.

Michelle has 39 years professional experience with leading teams and organizations at various stages of maturity in the Information Communications Technology, Education sectors in emerging markets.

Particular knowledge of the EU but also of all the major International Financial Institutes (IFIs) such as  the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, the African Development Bank, Multilateral Organizations (like the EU),  bilateral agencies (like GIZ, AFD, SIDA but also USAID, CIDA Canada now Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development),  major International non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs).

 Excellent knowledge in dealing with Governments, Ministries, Donors, international and local companies in the Emerging Markets.  Developing consortia and liaising with large multinationals Project Management in various locations.

 

While advising B2EU Michelle also  works as Senior Strategic Director, Governments and International Organizations at Teachers Media International.  Prior to joining TMI,   Michelle worked for Microsoft.   She was responsible for managing Microsoft’s Strategic engagement with the European Union and the European Union bilateral agencies across sub Saharan Africa, the Middle East and Eastern and Central Europe.  She is an expert in facilitating successful Public Private Partnerships together between ‘for profit’ and ‘not for profit’ organizations to support UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) bridging the gap between ICT to neighbouring sectors, particularly in Education, Human Resources Development and e-Skills.

 

Throughout her career, Michelle has combined with passion a distinguished career of business, philanthropic and humanitarian leadership.  Both her career and her voluntary activities have reflected a commitment to improving the lives of others with a special interest in young people at risk and giving something back to international community.  She served as a Trustee and was in charge of raising funds for Children and Beaten Women in marginalised Brussels-based communities from 1975 until May 2011.

Michelle is born in Brussels where she grew up.  She graduated from the Institute for Translators and Interpreters in Brussels, Belgium and holds a Master Degree in International Politics (ULB).   Before joining TMI and Microsoft, Michelle worked in variety of management roles in Monsanto, the European Commission and Schlumberger (now Atos Origin).
